OMG Classes Start Monday! PDF Print E-mail

feels good
Feels so good!

The search for affordable space in New York is unimaginably difficult especially for a small startup fitness operation. My partner Samantha and I have been on the verge of closing deals on several spaces when something goes horribly wrong at the last minute. It is frustrating and it slows down our progress. However, each step of the way we get a little smarter and more able to go into the next deal with a better understanding of what it takes.

We set aside plans for temporary spaces because we were so sure each time that we were signing a lease and now it's been 3 months without classes. That's too damn long. Therefore, we quickly put a deal together to rent a temporary space in Tribeca for November and December. We apologize for the long delay, but hope you will spend some time with us as the holidays approach and get sweaty.

The space is located at 65 Leonard Street, New York, NY 10013

It is easily accessible from the Franklin Street stop #1 train or The Canal Street stop A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, 6, J, M and Z trains. Could we be any more convenient?

Beginning Monday, November 3rd, we will hold classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. NO CLASS ON THURSDAY. There will be two classes per evening at 6pm and 7pm. We will post a holiday schedule soon.

Drop-in class fee $25.
One month unlimited classes for $150.

We take cash or check.

Special offers!!!

  • Your first class is free.
  • If you pay in advance for November and December you get $50 off. That's two months for $250!
  • If you bring a friend and your friend buys a month or two on that first day, you each get $25 cash back.

Mr. & Mrs. Gonzalez

So Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalez (a/k/a Juan and Sam, pictured above) decided that it would be a good idea to challenge me to a burpee showdown.  Tomorrow, Monday, October 20, Juan and I are going head-to-head for 100 burpees for time.  This will take place at The Black Box at lunchtime.  Please come down and cheer us on and help us count and keep time.  Apparently, Sam and Kevin are betting on Juan so that makes me the underdog.  I am confident that Juan will buckle under pressure.

Stay tuned for the results.

Congrats to our very own Sam a/k/a "Good Sam!"  The word on the street is that she got her first pullup yesterday. As we all know, your first pullup is an important rite of passage.  She is now claiming that she will begin her 100-day pullup challenge.  Wish her good luck.

I am going to Crossfit Boston for the weekend to assist coach Mark Rippetoe, author of Starting Strength and owner of Crossfit Wichita Falls, at the Crossfit Barbell Certification. I respect and admire Rippetoe very much and it is a huge honor for me to assist him.

I will take some photos and try to keep you updated via Twitter.  I'll be staying on top of my burpees. You should too.

Have a great weekend.

Chronologically, this announcement should have been made before Josh's wedding.  Saturday evening I got a short text message from Court that simply stated, "She said yes!"

Congratulations to Court and Morgan.  Welcome to the club!
