CrossFit Virtuosity is located in lovely Williamsburg, Brooklyn, at the Brooklyn Barbell Club: 221 North 8th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211.
This is conveniently a block-and-a-half from the Bedford Avenue L train, 15 minutes from Union Square, three blocks from the Metropolitan Avenue G train, three blocks from the awesome 400m track in McCarren Park, and five blocks from the 400m track currently being constructed on the Brooklyn waterfront, which will have lovely Manhattan skyline views.
In case location alone isn’t enough for you: we have 5,000 square feet of indoor space with 15′ ceilings, and an additional 2,500 square feet of outdoor space that’s ideal for flipping tires, dragging sleds, and of course BBQs!
From the L at Bedford Avenue (1 3/4 blocks)
Best to get out at the Driggs end of the train. This will be at the front of the train if you are coming from Manhattan, or the back if you are coming from further out in Brooklyn. To be very precise about it, you want to be at the back of the 3rd car from the front (from Manhattan) or the front of the 3rd car from the back (from Brooklyn.)
Once you have disembarked, proceed through the turnstiles, up the stairs, and exit onto Driggs. Walk a block over to N 8th, make a right, and walk 3/4 of the way down the block. You’ll see us on the left hand side. You have to walk through our parking lot to get to our front door!
From the G at Metropolitan Avenue / L at Lorimer Street (3 1/4 blocks)
Once you have exited the train, make your way to the intersection of Metropolitan and Union. This should be right where you get out of the G, and possibly a block over from where you could potentially have gotten out of the L.
Walk along Union towards the BQE (that giant highway overpass you can see in front of you!) Cross underneath the BQE and make a slight left to continue along North 8th street. Proceed 2 1/4 blocks until you are just past Roebling. You’ll see us on the right hand side. You have to walk through our parking lot to get to our front door!
Walking / Biking Directions
From Manhattan / The South
We’re located about 10 blocks north of the Williamsburg bridge. If you take the wide descending bike path (lefthand side coming down into Brooklyn,) you can proceed straight on South 5th Place off the bridge, take a right on South 4th, and immediate left on Roebling. Then just ride Roebling all the way up to North 8th, make a left, and we’ll be 1/4 block up on the right.
From Queens / The North
We’re a quick bike down along the lovely waterfront Kent Ave bike path. Find your way over the Pulaski Bridge into Brooklyn (there’s a bike/pedestrian path.) Take a right on Freeman Street, and a left in a few blocks on Franklin. Ride Franklin down to North 7th (it’ll turn into Kent somewhere along the way.) Make a left on North 7th, ride across to Roebling, then make a left and another left to circle around the block to North 8th. We’re 1/4 block up on the right.
We are conveniently located just off the BQE at the Metropolian Avenue exit. Please consult Google Maps for exact directions.
The streets of Williamsburg surrounding the gym provide fairly plentiful parking (especially by NYC standards!) This is particularly true on weekends. If things are looking a little parked up, try the streets surrounding McCarren Park, or Meeker Avenue underneath the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
Street Parking Tips
- Always check the signs to make sure you’re not falling afoul of street cleaning rules / school zones / no standing areas.
- Make sure you’re parked at least 15 feet from the nearest fire hydrant.
- Tuck in your street-side mirror to make sure no one knocks it off by accident.
- Take valuables with you (or at the very least make sure they’re out of sight.) Break-ins are rare but not unheard of.
If you are more comfortable parking in an attended pay lot, there is a lovely Central Parking facility right at the end of our block (entrance on Driggs Avenue between N8th and N9th streets.)
Please do not park in the gym driveway. We use the driveway for workouts. If you have some particularly special reason that you need to park there, please contact us. Parking without specific permission will most likely result in burpee penalties.
