Ch-ch-ch-changes

15011227379_e2fbd560b0_zIt’s a bittersweet week this week as we say farewell to Matt and Leo, and welcome Kyle and Emily in larger roles.

Matt has been coaching for us since he moved to Brooklyn from Colorado in 2011. We were immediately drawn to him, probably because he is eerily reminiscent of a young Will Ferrell. Matt has been an inspirational and innovative coach throughout his time here, bringing us all manner of ideas from his research, travels, and personal fitness journey to help us all to be both better athletes, and better movers in all facets of our lives. Although we share his affinity for the fresh, crisp air of the Colorado mountains, we are terribly depressed that Matt is leaving us to go enjoy it.

Matt’s final class will be this Friday 12/12 at 5:30pm — stop by to get one final taste of Matt-tasticness!

At the front of the house, we’re sad to say that Leo’s brief but spectacular stint as front desk manager has come to a close: he is moving back to Brazil and unfortunately won’t be able to make the commute to Bayard Street any longer. Leo has been with us only a short time, but we have grown to love him already! His last day was last Thursday, and there hasn’t been a day since that we haven’t missed him and his obsessive compulsive cleaning and reorganizing: we anticipate this feeling lingering far into the future. Leo will be in New York for the next week, so make sure you say goodbye to him before he jets off into the sunset!

In far happier news, Kyle will be doing his very best to fill Matt’s enormous squatting/hanging/gymnastical/PVC-balancing/handstanding/flow-ing shoes. He will be taking over some of Matt’s classes, including the gymnastics program, and generally carrying on Matt’s legacy (with his own awesome Kyle spin, naturally.)

We’re also very excited to have Emily Buckley joining our team. Emily will be taking over for Leo at the front desk during the evening hours, as well as coaching a number of Matt’s classes. You may recognize Emily as a member of our 2014 CrossFit Games team — she is a serious badass!

Please stop by and introduce yourself if you don’t know Kyle or Emily yet — they are extremely friendly and excited to meet everyone!
