Powerlifting

Strong people are harder to kill than weak people, and more useful in general.

– Coach Mark Rippetoe

We agree! Our powerlifting program focuses on making people strong with the 3 basic barbell exercises that will best achieve that: the squat, the deadlift and the bench press. The program is based on teaching you how to lift correctly and gradually getting you to lift more and more weight.

You’re only as fit as you are weak.

For all athletes, we require a minimum 1 month commitment to this program; for best results plan on at least 3 months of training.

Group Class Schedule

Class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7-8:30pm. Missed classes can be made up as an uncoached session on Sundays during our Open Gym session, or any weekday during Lab Hour.

Getting Started

CrossFit Athletes
Use existing membership.

CrossFit athletes can benefit greatly from incorporating Powerlifting into their program for strength gain. Should you choose to do this, we highly recommend that you commit to a regular schedule of lifting and frown upon dabbling. Our Powerlifting coach Justin will advise you how best to combine CrossFit with a lifting program (or possibly advise you to temporarily give up CrossFit — and that’s okay!)

If you’ve completed our On Ramp program, you can get started with Powerlifting any Monday at 7pm. Simply send an e-mail to contact@crossfitvirtuosity.com or stop by the office to enroll in the Powerlifting program. You may use your existing membership for Powerlifting classes.

Experienced Lifters
Jump into 3 sessions per week: $200/month.

Athletes with prior Powerlifting experience may begin any Monday at 7pm. You don’t need to be a master, but you should be familiar with the lifts and have a firm grasp of the basics (e.g. squatting.)

Novice Lifters

If you’re new to Powerlifting, we ask that you complete three private introductory sessions before proceeding to group class. These sessions will teach you the basics of Powerlifting and ensure that you are successful in the group setting!
