Weekend L Outage: How To Get Here!
It has come to our attention that the L will not be running from Manhattan to Brooklyn this weekend. Therefore, we have put together a little guide to alternative routes to the BBC for your enjoyment.PLAN A: SCENIC BIKE RIDESee A Nice Map Of ThisYes, it's true, you can actually bike here from Manhattan. In fact, it is startlingly easy, and promises to be quite pleasant particularly given the weather forecast. There are some pretty views on the way over the bridge too, if you need more incentive. The Williamsburg bridge may be accessed from Manhattan directly from Delancey Street -- the entranceway is smack in the middle of Delancey around about Clinton Street. It is large and not easily missed. We’re located about 10 blocks north of the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg bridge. If you take the wide descending bike path (lefthand side coming down into Brooklyn,) you can proceed straight on South 5th Place off the bridge, take a right on South 4th, and immediate left on Roebling. Then just ride Roebling all the way up to North 8th, make a left, and we’ll be 1/4 block up on the right.PLAN B: THE G TRAINSee A Nice Map Of ThisYes, the trusty G is still running. The Metropolitan Ave G stop is within easy walking distance of the gym (it’s the same as the Lorimer L stop.) If you’re somewhere in Midtown along the 7 line, or anywhere on the E, both the 7 and the E connect with the G at 23-Ely / Court Square.IMPORTANT NOTE: The Metropolitan Ave stop referred to by various MTA outage information is NOT the stop on the G. It’s the Metropolitan Ave stop on the M which is WAY OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. So, um, DON’T GO THERE.Once you have exited the G at Metropolitan Avenue, make your way to the intersection of Metropolitan and Union. This should be right where you get out of the G. You should see Kellog's Diner somewhere in the immediate vicinity. Walk along Union towards the BQE (that giant highway overpass you can see in front of you!) Cross underneath the BQE and make a slight left to continue along North 8th street. Proceed 2 1/4 blocks until you are just past Roebling. You’ll see us on the right hand side.PLAN C: THE J, M, or Z TRAINSSee A Nice Map Of ThisYou can also walk from the JMZ -- it's obviously not as close as the L/G but is not crazy far either. The closest stop is Marcy Ave which is the first stop in Brooklyn. The J and Z lines hit a lot of downtown Manhattan, and the M will hook you up to 14th Street / 6th Avenue (which is ALMOST Union Square!)Got questions? Lost in a cab?
